Common raven – Corvus Corax
Apparently they are the world’s largest songbird. Can anyone confirm this??
Anyway, going back to my roots, drawing/paint wildlife. Ironically I didn’t have time to paint when working at RSPB. I literally painted one chicken last summer.
Common ravens can be found almost anywhere. Lowlands and up in the mountains. In the Balkans, I saw raven nests on telephone poles (as well as absolutely loads of huge, scrappy stork nests perched precariously on street lights and road signs).
Ravens eat almost anything, and like all corvids (crows, magpies, jays), they are very clever.
I’ve room for some commissions this summer. So if you want a drawing or painting of your cat, dog, budgie – get in touch!
The original source photo that inspired this is by Yeray Seminaro.

Chip Eagle
Capsicum Anuum Frixum Aquilae
Contrary to popular belief, Chip Eagles prefer worms. If you see one in a field, look at its feet. It is probably worm charming by stomping the ground. It looks like Irish step dancing.
